On the First Friday of every month Fishtown galleries open their doors to the public displaying works of art in various mediums to the public. As part of the STREAM curriculum, an innovative photography course was taught by professionals from Philadelphia Photo Arts Center to 7th & 8th grade students. Using digital cameras provided by Philadelphia Photo Arts, students were taught the technical intricacies of photography including lighting, timing and composition. Armed with cameras, enthusiasm and their new knowledge of photography students went out several times a week to capture Fishtown on film. The culmination of the 10 week course came with a First Friday Exhibit at the Crane Art Center. Neighbors, friends and family were awed with an impressive show filled with impactful images shot by our young photographers. The accolades went on for days!
